This commercial is very sad. It made me want to go and adopt a pet from a shelter. In this commercial, it shows that pets that are in shelters will sometimes not be adopted and then they are put down. These animals are put down because after they have been there for a long time, the shelter will need to make room for other animals. Also, the shelter will run out of money to pay for that animals necessary needs so the only other option is to put the animal down. It makes me sad to think that people would rather go to a breeder than go and adopt a pet from a shelter. What is the big difference? Why wouldn’t you go to a shelter to get a dog, cause if you did, then you might end up saving that dog’s life. Or cats depending on your preference of pets. I hope that if you are a pet owner, then you found this presentation very moving and that you got your pet from a shelter. Even if you don’t own a pet, I hope this video made you think about adopting a pet from a shelter.
Animal abuse and abandonment is a big issue, and it does not only affect house pets. It affects all animals, horses, lizards, mice, etc. This issue is in need of help from everyone, and everyone includes you. A way to deal with this issue is to adopt pets from shelters, Feed your pets and keep them healthy, and if you do not want your pet, don’t just leave it alone to die, try selling it, you could possibly make some money from selling the pet. All animals are important and I hope everyone knows that, because without animals, we wouldn’t exist. If a whole animals species died, we would die shortly after they died. In the world we live in, we humans rely on other animals to live, we use them for food, clothing, and food products like honey and vegetables. My main point is that you must keep your animals happy and healthy because they need you and you need them. This may be a short post but i think i have made my point in a meaningful way.
The S.P.C.A is a wonderful organization that helps animals, up until they are there for 1 week. Cause after that 1 week mark, they get killed to make room for other animals. I don’t think that animal shelters that are like that are the best. I like the New Hope Dog Shelter. My Auntie is actually a volunteer there and lives on an acridge so she keeps some of the dogs there when the shelter itself gets too full. I do not really need to provide proof that the S.P.C.A kills animals since they have admitted it before. So they are not ashamed of it where as if you had to go around all day killing animals I am pretty sure I would feel bad about it and so would anyone else. Or at least most people would. I do understand that they need to make space for the other animals that come in but killing isn’t the only way.

Their website is amazing, very informative and neat with many things to click on, but what about their facts about what they do with the animals that are bad, that don’t do what they are told. I’ll tell you what they so with those animals, they kill them, just like they do with the overflowing animals. My family believes that all living things deserve second chances, and just cause no one wants the animal doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to live. I say that we should stand up and give the S.P.C.A some suggestions as to what they should do with the overflowing animals and the animals no one wants. But it is not entirely their fault. It is everyone’s fault. Its the fault of everyone who thought about donating to the S.P.C.A but decided not to cause they were saving up for a car or they wanted to but the new iPod touch. So the next time you have some extra change in your pocket, don’t think, “What can I do for myself?” think, “What can i do to help someone or something else?”.
I know that before I was all “The S.P.C.A is bad, but now I have realized that it’s not their fault they run out of space, they just need more donations to help keep the animals there for a longer period of time. We can help them out by donating as much money as we can spare and if your thinking about getting a dog, instead of getting a puppy, look for an older more behaved dog. And instead of getting a pure breed from a breeder, settle for a cute mixed breed dog from the S.P.C.A. I have started donating to the S.P.C.A and ever since I started I have felt better about myself thinking that I am helping an animal live and I am giving them another chance. I bet you would too if you started donating to them, but you don’t just have to donate to them. You can donate money to any charity you want but if you want to donate to an animal shelter, you should consider donating to this shelter.
I have been wanting to write about the S.P.C.A for a long time but I have had so many other things to write about so I never got to it until now. I am glad I finally got to it and am pretty happy with the outcome. Comment and let me know what your opinion is on it.
Every year, the chances get higher for animals species to become extinct. Today in Canada, there are 640 endangered species that are close to becoming extinct. Just imagine how many endangered animals there are all over the world. Like I said in my last post, if even one animal species goes extinct, the world will come to an end. It may come to an end slowly, but it will eventually come to an end. Extinction can happen to any creature, whether they be in a prairie, in the ocean, or a rainforest. It can happen to any species at any time, no matter where they live. Animal Species are being lost, this is how we can help.

I find it is a very moving and powerful video and I hope you were moved by it too. The video was all about saving our wildlife and telling the people who watch it about the endangered animals that are in Canada alone. It also told us about what we can do to help and why they would like our help. I found that it was a very well put together video with a good point.
After the video, I went and looked at the David Suzuki website on wildlife, I saw something very interesting. I found out that some of the wildlife foundations we find online, have flaws in them. Flaws such as, putting animals in the wrong habitats after rescuing them, and refusing to help save some of the species. The bottom line to my point is that some federations have flaws. Some are awesome federations but they don’t get to do anything because of lack of funding. Such as the S.A.R.A. Other federations get tons of donations but don’t actually spend the money on helping the animals, they just spend it on themselves. Such as the C.W.F. Some of this may be confusing but my main point is, if you are planning on volunteering or donating to a wildlife federation, make sure it is legit first. And that if you are planning to help, that t is the way you want to help the animals.
Wildlife federations that are legit are places that will help save animal species as much as they can. The David Suzuki and the Nature Canada are both very good federations that will put the money towards the animals. If you are wanting to help out with any federations, wether it be volunteering or donating, you should go to one of these sites. When you do help out, many animal species get saved. Such as the Polar Bear, the Great horned owl, and the Peary Caribou. All of those animals and many more need your help and support. Sure, when you watch this video it may make you sad. It might make you want to learn to speak a difficult language. Or to try to get some cultures saved. That is great and all, but, what about the animals. They are being forced out of their homes, their food and resources taken away. This is what is happening to people who are in this video. But since the same thing is happening to some humans, and cultures, they get this video to help out with the cause. What did the animals get? That is my question, why are humans more important than animals?
Recent studies show that if all the humans in the world died, the world would keep working. The Earth would live on without us. But if any animal, (even an animal as small as a cockroach) went extinct, the world would end. Human’s are completely unimportant in this world. We have no use. So why do most humans think they are better than most animals? It is because humans are selfish, it is in our nature. There are few people in this world that are not very selfish, and even then, they are selfish about some things. Humans are also keen to thinking they are above most things. Animals because we think they are stupid because they can’t speak English. But the truth is, most animals are smarter than us.
In no way am I shooting this video down. It is a fantastic video that is very moving and touching and makes you wonder what you can do to help out. It is a very wonderful and put together video and presentation. But, this is something that should also be said about a video on animal losing their habitats, but most videos on that barely have any views and don’t get any media coverage. So this is something we need to deal with, we have to get habitat loss for animals known. But how, that is the question I ask you. I am challenging you to find the answer to that question and for you to go make a difference.
Animals, such as the Giant Panda, the Chinese Alligator, Tibetan Antelope, and the South Chinese Tiger are being forced out of their homes. This is a result from people taking their resources, such as food, water, and items necessary for them to live the way they are supposed to. People take the items they need to live out of selfishness. We take away trees from squirrels to make paper when the squirrels live in trees and need trees to survive. We could recycle our paper, so we can use it again so that we don’t have to cut down quite so many trees. We also use up a lot of the fresh water supply so animals that live in the water, (Freshwater Crocodiles, River Otters, Beavers, etc.) have nowhere to live. A way we can help with that is that we can clean our water and reuse it. We can also stop dumping our bad sewage water into other clean freshwater zones.

There are about 1,250,000 identified species in the world. They are all important to our ecosystem and food chain. Without them, our world as we know it would fall apart. For example, if we didn’t have mice, the eagles would have that food source taken away. Therefore, the eagles would die off. If the eagles die off, then the bears and other animals of that sort have less food to eat. And so on and so forth. That can carry on forever, or at least, until it reaches us.
In our everyday lives, we use many animals for food. Some animals are also used for clothing, and other everyday household items. But some people kill animals for fun or to get one part and leave the rest of them to rot. Like in Africa where a trader would go around and kill elephant only for their tusks and leave the rest of the animal behind. They would use the elephant tusks for keys on a piano, teacups, and much more. Sure, the tusk might help make items, but that person should not kill animals for only one part. That would ruin the other animal’s chances of living, because all animals are important in an ecosystem.
Animals can’t live if we take away their food and habitat. When we as Canadians cut down trees, we are taking away tons of animal’s homes. These animals are all important. Squirrels for example help us by planting trees using acorns and other nuts. That helps us because then we can cut down those trees as well. But, if we cut down too many trees at once, those little squirrels have nowhere to go and can’t plant any more. My point is, all animals are needed to make the world work. You may not like these animals, but they are needed and without them we would all die.
That is pretty much all i have to say on the matter for now. So, if you have a pesky squirrel in your yard or a gopher or whatever, remember without it, you may die. All animals are needed and should be treated just as equally as you would treat any your own life. Don’t throw away life, embrace it and treat it with respect.
Shelters are an important part of society. They pick up all the stray animals and give them good homes. Without them, our world would fall apart because of all the stray or “Wild” animals. Most shelters are good such as the one I got my dog from, (Name of Shelter). Other aren’t so great. Such as the S.P.C.A, which kills the pets if they have been there too long. But that is for a different post at a different time.
In shelters, there are different jobs that need to be done, inside and outside the shelter. Shelters like new hope need help with the process of feeding and bathing the animals as well as needing fosters. If you do not know, when you foster pets, you are taking a role as one of the homes that hold the dogs to help out the shelter. When you foster pets, you get all of the food and water needed to allow them to live from the owners of the shelter. Places like the S.P.C.A on the other hand, kill the animals after about 2 weeks. Both me and one of my teachers got our dogs from the New Hope Dog Shelter. We both think it is the best shelter and other shelters should follow its examples.
Shelters are a very important way to make sure that animals such as dogs and cats don’t go wild. Without shelters, the world would be overrun with wild animals that attack humans and have diseases. Shelters that don’t kill animals such as New Hope Shelter for Dogs, are the ones that generally most people would like to go to. If it weren’t for the S.P.C.A which kills the animals if they have been there too long, but have the biggest property, and the most money to spent on commercials. But without the S.P.C.A we would have too many wild animals running around. Well, a lot more than we have no anyway. In the society of Saskatoon, most people love animals, and the people that run the New Hope Shelter for Dogs loves animals and that is why they allow people to foster. I think all shelters should do that, not kill the animals that have stayed there too long. Shelters are an important part of our society and so if shelters need help looking after the animals, then we should if we can.
If you already are volunteering at a shelter than you already know what I am talking about. But if you don’t volunteer at a shelter and want to, then here is some jobs that you should expect to see. Foster Homes, Animal Feeders, Veterinarians, Donation Collectors, Kennel Cleaners, and so on. My point is that shelters are in major need of help with Volunteers and we should help them. In my household we have a dog that we got from a shelter. At this shelter, my mother had asked what it meant to foster dogs. As soon as she said the question, all the workers got happier. It is kind of sad that they need volunteers so badly that when someone asks about fostering they get all excited. My auntie actually fosters dogs and if our family had a bigger yard, we would be fostering dogs too. I hope you enjoyed everything I had to say about shelters in this post. Today, I am going to write about Shelters. Shelters are wonderful places that help dogs that need it. If I was old enough, I would volunteer at shelters. Although sadly I am not. Well, for some things I am not allowed to volunteer for. But for the things I can volunteer for, well, I go and help out whenever I can, and I hope this post will make you want to help out too.

I suggest the first 2 more than the S.P.C.A one because the S.P.C.A sometimes kills some of the animals if they are there too long. So the first 2 are better, well to me they are. To me, adopting is better because then most of the animals need a home and will have different personalities than pure bred animals. there are many differences between pure bred and mixed pets. Pure bred, always have the same type of personality unlike mixed pets which always have special personalities. Also, all pure bred dogs are more expensive, where as if you adopt a mixed breed, then it won’t be very expensive at all. To go along with this, some mixed dogs will look cuter than if they were pure bred depending on what you want your dog to look like. All dogs, mixed or pure bred, have different traits or personalities to them. Like if you want a guard dog, you should go with any of these listed bellow.
There are plenty more groups of dogs, but if I wrote them all, I wouldn’t be able to get to the point I was trying to make. The point I was trying to make is that there are many groups of dog’s, for example :Great with kids, Working, Hypoallergenic, Sporting, Hound, all of those and more. Maybe I will tell you more on a later post but for now, lets work on what I am trying to point out. Well, there are many dogs that fit into many categories, if you can find the right one for your family, you will never want it to leave thus causing no abandonment. Also, if you love it a lot you will not want to abuse it, and that is why I told you all that, to tell you that getting the right dog for your family, is the right choice. Training your dog properly is also a good thing to have for a dog. If a dog has proper training it will try to run away and will listen to you better. Also, if the dog is trained well, it will not cause you stress when it does something bad and so you will not get mad and hit it. If you have a big dog that likes to be in control, a good way to train it is to use treats and show dominance above it. However you may choose to do that. Another good thing to do is to never show it fear because then, it will think it is above you on the “Food Chain”. So, that is why training your dog properly, is a good way to keep from your dog getting hurt.
Do you know why animals are abused? Animals are abused because a.) Some people don’t think animals have feelings. b.) People are frustrated with the animals. and on rare cases, c.) They do it for their own entertainment. If you know someone who is harming animals, then you should report them because harming animals is against the law. If you find a animal that is hurt, you should call this number:975-2400, or you could try to catch it. If you do try to catch it, follow precautions. Such as, don’t chase it. If it is anywhere near a road, then it could get hit by a car. Also, do not try to take it somewhere if it is rabid. The best chance for it to live, is if you call the number above. Well that is pretty much all, be sure to watch out for animals.
The thing I decided to base my blog on, is pets. Not just anything about pets though. It’s about how us, as human beings, can help stop abuse and abandonment on animals. My blog is also about how we can help shelters out. It’s also about things like how we should treat all animals. I picked this topic because I love animals and hate to see them injured because their owner does not care about them. Also, I know someone who works at a shelter and the shelter needs help to foster some dogs. So I thought advertising about their shelter on my blog might help get them some volunteers.
On my blog I want to write about pets. Although to be able to do that I have to do that I have to a little bit of learning. For my blog, I want to learn about the best ways to train different types of dogs. To help out shelters, I want to learn what I can do to help so I can get other people to help by putting it on my blog. I also want to learn how to help save the abused and abandoned animals from homes or on the streets. Although, the most important thing I want to learn, is how to get people to care about helping these poor injured animals.
To tell people about the stuff I have learned, I will write it on my blog. First, I will tell them the proper way that you should care for and train your pets. Then, I will blog a list of names and phone numbers of a few shelters so they can volunteer to help out or to adopt a pet. After that, I will tell them all about how we can save animals from being abused. I will also write about how different breeds of animals are good for different types of families.
To tell people about the things on my blog, I must first think. By think I mean I must think about how to explain the best way to train different types of dogs. I also have to imagine how to explain the best dog for different types of families. Also, I have to think some more about the best places are to adopt pets. Although, I bet the hardest thing I will have to think about, is how to explain all of this in a way that everyone will understand. Now this job might be a little more tricky than I thought.
For my blog I have to connect with the people who read it. To do this I must explain the things I want to say in a way people can understand. If I want to connect with people I must write about stuff they want to know. Also, to connect with people I have to explain stuff so it sounds interesting. This may not be the hardest task, but hat doesn”t mean it will be easy. Although, no matter if it is hard, it will still be fun to me.
Did you know that a little under half of the dogs in the world that are abused or killed are hurt because their owners didn’t train them properly? Well its true and it is one of the saddest things I’ve ever heard. How I am going to stop this or , “How I am going to change the world”, is that I am going to tell people the proper way to train a specific type of pet. I am going to explain how to help a shelter foster dogs. Also, if they don’t know anything about animal abuse and abandonment, I will take them out of their La la la la Lives and show them that their are issues with people harming animals. This is how I am going to change the world.
